We designed this school to help cultivate well-rounded student athletes, combining a rigorous basketball-focused athletics program with an existing church ingrained in the community.

At KBA, we realize that a lot that goes into the development of a professional level athlete. Our approach fosters a holistic program for student athletes, preparing them for successes on and off the court and also benefits the community.
By combining faith, academic, and athletics, this school can become a beacon of excellence in the city. We’ve started with a state of the art facility with NBA-size basketball courts and training areas for strength and conditioning.
While speed and agility are critical, these attributes must be founded in a solid foundation of positive mental health in order to truly flourish and develop students' full potential. Our research showed that students wanted green spaces, edible gardens, and mindfulness counsellors. The facility provides dedicated counselors who understand the pressures faced by student athletes. Techniques like meditation and goal-setting can be incorporated.
Providing a safe space for recreational play, pick-up games, or even family bonding time on the court leads to a result where everyone wins.
Open gym nights are a great way for community members of all ages to connect on and off the court.
Fitness classes like yoga or aerobics would attract a wider demographic to the facility and promote overall well-being.
Another way we might build the bond between the school and the community is mentorship programs where student athletes are paired with younger kids in the community. Hosting after school basketball programs where kids of all skills levels participate is another slam dunk. Our hope is that this building for the community will help to unlock students’ full potential.
