A globe-trotting restaurateur, often hosting international guests in her New York apartment, turned to KBA to elevate the comfort of her Upper West Side home.

As a New York City-based firm, we’re constantly inspired by our surroundings. This Upper West Side project was no exception.
With the iconic Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Morningside Park as our backdrop, we sought to create a space that captured the area’s natural beauty and urban energy.
Our client, a seasoned restaurateur, had a clear vision for her kitchen. We responded with a two-tone design featuring custom green lacquer cabinets that echoed the park's foliage, complemented by a warm bronze backsplash. Ample storage and counter space ensured this culinary hub was as functional as it was stylish.

Recognizing the value of additional bathrooms in New York City living, we creatively reconfigured the apartment’s layout to accommodate an en suite bathroom for the guest room and a convenient powder room.
To do this we got creative and thought outside the box. We zoomed out and took a look at the circulation in the apartment. With thoughtful space planning, we reduced the amount of circulation area in the hallway and reallocated the extra space to create an extra bathroom without taking away square footage. By optimizing space and improving ventilation throughout, we significantly enhanced the overall comfort and functionality of the home. In addition, we were also able to expand and add ventilation to each of the three bathrooms. Old air out; fresh air in.
To address the common issue of uneven floors, we installed quiet sleepers and solid hardwood flooring, creating a level and luxurious foundation. We also leveled and polished the ceiling to reflect the park's greenery and installed energy-efficient LED lighting to highlight the architectural details.
The result is a transformed apartment that perfectly blends the Upper West Side's charm with contemporary style. Our client's vision, coupled with our design expertise, has created a truly exceptional living space.
